Lambing time

As spring arrives the paddocks of the country-side start to become dotted with the white and/or black specks frolicking around beside their mothers. This group of Suffolk lambs with a ewe captured my attention today. As an ex-sheep farmer this is always a very special time of year.It is just so rewarding to have the ewes happily raise their lambs, it is extremely stressful when the weather turns nasty,it is extremely frustrating when a ewe will not accept a lamb....mostly it is a privilege to be involved with this essential part of the cycle of farming.I do like the word shepherd with its inference of herding and caring for the flock.
