A drama a day.

We needed to drop some paint at the new house today but didn't feel able to stay. It is not particularly restful to stay around somewhere that is full of dust and hard working men. We therefore decided to explore some of the local walks.
After walking down a very busy road, that resembled a motorway, we realised that there was a short cut across fields that brought us to a public footpath that followed the River Adur.
In a few miles we decided to take advantage of the warm weather and rest for a while by the river bank. We both closed our eyes. We could hear the naughty collie splashing about in the river, while Ben just snored by our side. We were suddenly jolted out of our peaceful contemplation by the naughty one, who was covered in mud, jumping all over us. I was just about to shout at him for ruining my white jacket when I realised that something was seriously wrong. He was writhing in terror, his eyes were white and in a few seconds he collapsed gasping for breath. I panicked, but luckily Ken kept calm. He forced the dog's mouth open and located a small piece of stick that was lodged sideways across his windpipe. He pulled it out and, within seconds, he was back to normal. It took us a while to recover though.
