Taste of Ink

Teachers and staff wrote their New Year's resolutions pertaining to foreign language studies which was posted on the school bulletin. Sure it was supposed to go into effect on New Year's Day but we're right on time for Chinese New Year (though Japan follows the Gregorian calendar). ;)

This was my first time doing shodo (Japanese calligraphy) and I enjoyed each moment I swept my brush on that piece of paper. It was a bit of a challenge for me since I can't read nor write kanji so I just copied down what was written for me. On the lower left corner is my "name stamp" written in katakana which says Okiko, my Japanese name that my students gave me.
