First day

The big day!

Or the big hour or so, at least.

The paparazzi of grandparents assembled in the back garden. He dealt with their flashes and shouts for attention and smiles with ease... And a few fierce throws of his tennis balls.

He walked to the school with confidence as big as his new rucksack. And played with his friends, comparing new school shoes.

In we all went, lining up in rows to find the classroom. Then away we went. No fan fare. No tears.

So many thoughts and questions going on in my head, I can only guess what he must've been thinking!

Would he make new friends.
Would he keep his old ones.
Will he love learning?
Will he remember what's most important?

He was probably wondering if there would be a sand pit!

Then, we were picking him up again. Eager to hear his stories. What knowledge he'd garnered.

'It was fine.'
'Good'

An all you can eat pizza buffet was the only thing for it... Try to elicit some more details... Via the play park.

Then, to keep the 'new' theme going, it was off to his new tennis lessons. New coach. And, on a brief toilet dash, he let me know that it was all good... Before rushing back to the court.

He's growing up. Fast. But I hope that there's always lots of fun along the way.
