Park Railings

With a dire forecast for Sunday, and an empty larder requiring a visit to the supermarket, this was probably going to turn out to be last real day of my holiday. Accordingly I headed to Petworth House, another National Trust property, and enjoyed a gentle and informative stroll round the house and pleasure gardens.

A ha-ha, or recessed landscape design element that creates a vertical barrier while preserving views, separates the pleasure gardens from the main estate designed by the great landscape architect, Capability Brown. The gate in these railings provides access between the two. I rather liked the shadows and silhouettes they form, which seem perfectly suited to chantler63's challenge for today
