I'm excited preparing to go down to Portland tomorrow for our granson's first birthday....birthday it tomorrow and party Saturday! Dogs will go to "camp" later today hopefully so we don't have to do that in the morning. Made the vegan chocolate cookies last night as per recipe sent by my son----I had some of the dough and one cookie---YUM.

addendum: Just a note that goes along with a back blip from Tuesday when I wrote about all the police brutality and killings of unarmed black teens and young men. Now the most recent killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson , Mo. is making International news because of arrests made of some press corps people there---a total violation of first amendment rights. story here Also the police no longer look like "cops" but are donning paramilitary gear. All part of the militarization of the police that has been going on for quite awhile now. They have even been using the banned Cs gases on the protesters there. A whiff of fascism is in the air with this heightened post 9 11 beefed up security business using police as a paramilitary arm of corporations. It's quite profitable too unfortunately so there is motivation there too. Scary times.
