And THIS is why ....

.... you should never leave home without a camera !

Not a very successful day before this. Mr. Beewatcher was on an errand on behalf of the vintage bus he owns a share in, to deliver some engine parts to a firm in London.
Naturally, being a man, he totally underestimated the time it would take to drive from Sussex to London before it closed at three. Added to the fact that he didn't really know how to get there, the atmosphere in the car was icy when we realised time had run out and the sorry saga would have to be repeated on Monday.
On the way to London, we'd seen lots of people assembling along the perimeter fence of Biggin Hill airport, all bristling with cameras. Coming back, the road alongside the airport was jam-packed with cars and people. We'd just seen a Spitfire flash across the sky, were they waiting for that ?
Suddenly, out of the blue yonder, we saw it - a Lancaster bomber coming in to land, only the second time I've seen one in flight.
Mr. Beewatcher had to slow down because of the amount of traffic, and it flew low right over the car, with the wonderful roar of its engines, so fast that I only just had time to snap it passing over the fence.
It's not the visiting Canadian one, but the Battle of Britain Memorial flight Lancaster, City of Lincoln. Such a memorable sight and sound, and we just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
So THIS is why ....
