Mont-St.-Michel

Can something be beautiful/interesting and absolutely horrible at the same time? Yes, it can, and Mont-Saint-Michel is its name. The mideval rock town, only accessible with low tide (well, until they built a bridge), is a fascinating piece of history and a remarkable feature in the French landscape. But for us, it was impossible to see beyond the masses of tourists. Quite literally.
