Under her Watchful Eye

The friends of Palestine organised an event in town today. It started with a die-in, in which several people dressed in red t-shirts and with red painted on their arms acted out a death scene with each carrying the name of a Palestinian who had been recently killed in Gaza. There was then a march through town to the Queen Victoria monument for a series of speeches and poems about the present situation, as well as some songs led by the Socialist Singers. Queen Victoria looked down on the gathering, as did the police who generally kept a low profile, although they took video footage of the entire proceedings.
