Look again in five years.

This field is halfway between Arnside and Silverdale. It was bought at auction last year by the Arnside/Silverdale Landscape Trust and established as its third reserve in the area.

The plan is to turn it into a traditional flower rich hay meadow. Most such meadows of this kind have been lost over the past few decades. The meadow does not have a very rich flora at present. One of the first stages is to scatter yellow rattle seed. This plant will weaken some of the grasses and give more chance to the other herbs which will be introduced gradually. It is a real challenge but with many enthusiastic volunteers and advice from professional conservationists we hope to succeed.

Watch this space - in about five to ten years.
