Where the Light Gets In

La Gacilly Photo festival

To make up for yesterday's missed exhibition, we went today to the photo festival in La Gacilly. It is a really well organised event, with shows in designated galleries and in the streets.

The village of La Gacilly is full of artists' workshops and there is of course a "House of Photography" where we saw our first exhibit, one of photos by Ansel Adams. A few more followed, including Edouard Boubat, Robert Capa, Mathieu Pernot (he used the old blockhouses you can find on some Breton beaches as camerae obscurae and photographed the resulting images as he locked himself inside during the experiment).

Here, you can see Julie admiring some of Nick Brandt's photographs from his series "Across the Ravaged Land".

A great last day. We go back tomorrow.
