Home and Pigeons

After all the excitement yesterday of the steam train revisiting its old haunts on the branch line to my local station, today was a complete contrast. I stayed quietly at home and watched a classic Wood Pigeons v Magpies carve-up over the bird table in Kevin the Downstairs Neighbour's garden. Then Kevin himself suddenly appeared through the patio doors, which scared them all off mid-fight. It eventually ended in a draw, with both sides claiming victory and not much food left for the little Dunnocks and Blue Tits to finish up. This rather cross-looking fellow stopped for a postprandial rest on the wall by my kitchen window before launching off into the turbulent wind for some much-needed exercise.

One good thing about a strong wind is that you can't hear the Wood Pigeons' very boring and repetitive call.
