Back Blip

Ferral Les Montagnes, Languedoc, has a small but lovely Sunday market with peaches, lavender, quiche and honey to name but a few of the things on sale, and draws people from around the valleys to its narrow site clinging to the side of a mountain. It was a beautiful morning with a real sense of escape into another world full of lush valleys, cascading burns, and butterflies all a flutter. And Antonio (our host inside the Tom Tom GPS unit that I found in the glove pocket of the hire car) continued the theme by taking us on most picturesque narrow tracks across parkland, through vineyards, and along canal tow paths for over an hour and a half on the way back before we hit any tarmac with a centre road marking. One stretch was no more than a rutted cart track but we are very happy to have been shown a secret France we would have driven past otherwise. Gracias, Toni!
