Long Slow Distance

In-spired

The imposing spire and adjacent bell tower of St. Michael's Church, in Lewes High Street. The slender wooden-shingled spire rises from the top of a round flint tower, one of only two similar types in Sussex. The spire features a distinctive spiral.

The huge clock projects out over the street, beneath the square tower, the top of which is constructed from sturdy beams weathered grey.

I like the way these towers conflict in shape, texture and colour, making them a very dominant feature in the town.
