Neighbours

We live in a small cul-de-sac. Of the three houses at the end, the newcomers have been here only thirty years, the second couple forty-four years and we are the old timers at forty-seven years. We are firm friends, of course, but don't live in each others' pockets. We help each other celebrate birthdays, children's weddings and arrival of grandchildren. We water gardens and pick up the post for each other at holiday time. Today the "forty-four years" couple took us out to lunch to celebrate her birthday. We went to a popular Italian restaurant in a nearby village, a bit more upmarket than most Italian restaurants and rather formal, but the food is excellent. It was a long chatty lunch, the first of three this week for me! It's tough being retired!
(The blip is the restaurant, not one of our houses!)
