Descent

A breezy day, so the Spokes Ride to the Borders was cancelled. At least there were two of us, so we headed eat, with the wind at our backs we zoomed along. I met up with some friends, who were also out on a bike ride, in Musselburgh. It was fine travelling east. Travelling north or south was passable, with buffeting making cycling interesting. We took the coast road out as far as Longniddry, and took the climb up Bangly Brae.

Here we are heading north on the Aberlady to Haddington road. We didn't descend all the way, we took the right to Athelstaneford, but there is this lovely view down to the East Lothian Coast, the Firth of Forth and Fife. Looks great large. From Athelstaneford, we headed north, a lot more buffeting as we climbed Kingston Hill, and descended in to North Berwick.

At North Berwick, we had a nice lunch, then got the train back to Edinburgh. Cycling in to the wind? That would be plain silly. Mind you with 25mph wind, its probably preferable to travelling in that cruise ship. Wonder what it was like in the North Sea?
