Jim

Jim is helping the village WI with their Village History of the Twentieth Century. He has lived in the village for almost all his life and is fast approaching his 90th birthday.
Fortunately for us his mind is still nimble and his memory is intact. He was packed off to boarding school in Bruton aged 8 and entered the Air Force at the commencement of war. His eyesight was not good enough to train as a pilot so he went instead as a Radar Operator. He spent the war happily sitting on the Isle of Lewis and the Isle of Portland manning Radar Stations.
He served as a Parish Councillor for approximately 30 years and served on the District Council for a further 20years.
He has a twinkle in his eye and enjoys sharing snippets of village gossip from yesteryear.
