Is the circus in town?

No it isn't. I took this blip of Cambridge's Schlumberger Building from a moving bus today. Only sorry I couldn't get nearer. It is so different from any other building yet few people know what goes on within these tent like structure.

It was designed by Michael Hopkins and constucted in 1984 and is a tented structure currently surrounded by fields. Its main function is an oil-drilling research station with offices etc. It was the first Teflon coated glass fibre membrane building in the UK.

West Cambridge is developing at such a rate that I can't see the fields surviving for many years.
