Thistle Down

By Ethel

Stars

I wish...we only knew,
In that starry sky.
Just how many worlds up there,
Go spinning swiftly by.

I wonder...O I wonder,
Do they fancy just like we.
That there's a world that's ours,
In what they have to see.

Are they but gases burning,
Their planet just like ours.
And in their ways of learning,
Are they endowed with powers.

Do they wonder as we wonder,
On that great and beautiful Mars.
And where are those bright kingdoms,
Far off among the stars.

O the mysteries we are seeing,
That come within our eyes.
Is a seepage through the portal,
Of lights up in the skies.
