Lindisfarne Castle

I decided to drive over to Holy Island as the day dawned sparkly and promising. Because the causeway would be impassable to return after mid day, I hurried up to make the most of the peace and sunshine.

I took the shuttle bus from the car park up to the castle. I beat the crowds and it was magical.

A gentle stroll back down, tempted by all the shimmering photos, I enjoyed a cool and blustery approach to the Priory.

I love this place. It's better than I had dreamed and I will be back.

My hotel is lovely too - local delicacies but iffy wifi. I'm uploading this from The Barn at Beal, overlooking Holy Island as the sea reclaims the road.
