Spittlebug Gone Mad

There were several of these little "clouds" on the lawn today after it had been raining for about 24 hours. At first I thought they were webs, but when I touched them, they were bubbly. I have seen spittle bug suds before, but usually they are small and on the stems of plants. These were about 6" in diameter and there were about 4 of them in a cluster. I guess it's pretty difficult to see the actual spittle bug because the whole idea of the frothy stuff is for protection and camouflage. And, just for the record, it's not really "spittle" as it comes from the opposite end.

Have a look in LARGE if you want.
