The glories of Burgundy

The glories of Burgundy include, of course, food and wine, and more of these anon. But there are also the glories of the Romanesque churches, many of them dependencies of the once all powerful and, once too, enormous abbey at Cluny. This is the church of St Martin at Laives near Tournus. We got there in the late afternoon (after a long and wonderful lunch) as a wedding party were leaving. We were too late to see the interior (it was locked) but it is the simple grandeur of the exterior which is most to be admired.

Those interested in romanesque churches may like to take a look at OB's blip of St Philibert in Tournus.
