However you describe the PS Waverley and it's place in the living history of the River Clyde for me it's the rhythmic, purposeful splash of the paddles driven by original steam turbines that add to the uniqueness of this vessel.

The Waverley has a habit of appearing from nowhere, suddenly overtaking at a majestic 14 knots very soon to disappear only to reemerge later from a different direction!

Another feature of the Waverley is the absence of any significant wake.

Today's picture is taken at the end of the East Kyle near the entrance to Loch Striven.
