Sad news from my former college roommate with the ill daughter, who isn't getting better in time for the school year. For those of you on the US east coast, please take great care not to be bitten by ticks, which can carry a horrible brew of debilitating diseases. The science on this is nascent. Another friend of mine, a brilliant and funny young woman who had been studying natural resource use by Indians of the Darien region in Panama, never made it back to quite normal--so sad, as she was so clearly destined to be so much.
