The Sad Tail of Mr Rubble

Sorry – back to my wall repairs, but hopefully to give you something to chuckle about.

In order to make good, and to level off the top of the wall to ground level (that’s the garden which the wall is retaining) we are in need of some extra blocks. We new this from the beginning and have been searching for some matching blocks, preferable weathered as these are over 30 years old, since before the work started, but with little success.

NOW on the top (or bottom) of the block the word ‘BRADSTONE’ was clearly cast, and on the bottom (or top) the words ‘S.C.RUBBLE’, which we took to be a brick-maker or similar working under franchise.

We had managed to find some Bradstone blocks which were similar, but not the same, so I Googled the manufactures in the hope that they still exist, and bingo . . . “Bradstone Square Coursed Rubble” – one embarrassed engineer and one embarrassed builder, it is the style of block, NOT the manufacturer.

We have found exactly the style and size of block we need, but unfortunately we still can’t find a supply, not even on eBay or Amazon . . .

So if you have a few 6 inch (150 mm) Bradstone ‘Square Coursed Rubble’ building blocks (any length) looking for a home then we are in the market for about 30 mtrs (linear).

Back to the drawing board . . .
