Moving Day

In what seems like loads of time, and no time, simultaneously we were ready to move. Due to kind donations of my parents and grandma we managed to gain two beds, a dining table with chairs, and a suite comprising of a large sofa and two chairs. The only problem being that there was nowhere to put the suite, and with a delivery of my parents new suite expected that morning we had to do something with it. And of course, it wouldn't all fit in the van that we had hired in one go.

So luckily it was a sunny day, and it chilled for a while outside on the patio while waiting to eventually be moved. The bed was easier, the base folded in two and the mattress could go anywhere. Table and chairs were as you can imagine. There was also the issue of the other bed being at my Grandma's house in Preston. Now being in Southport, and wanting to go to Liverpool, does pose a slight problem. However, I was well out of that as Thom and Dad were in charge of the van.

After the first van-load of things had gone, Mum and I made the lunches, packed my little car and headed to Liverpool. When Mum looked at how much had to go in, she said it wouldn't all go in. Oh ye of little faith. My car might be small but it is quite roomy!

Once we were there, and we had arranged the first set of furniture how we were at a little bit of a loose end. So we ended up fixing some of the painting efforts, and then going through the entire year of my university papers. From pieces of work to handouts, most of it is now in recycling! Well you can't afford to be precious when it won't get used again...

Once the second load of furniture had come, everyone had lunch, then we all set to putting the new delivery of furniture everywhere. Not surprisingly, it took all afternoon. My little car and the big van then headed to the Mecca that is IKEA to buy the final bits of furniture that were missing. After wandering around for what seemed like an age, we found everything that we needed. By this time we were hungry and tired, so decided to make use of the IKEA restaurant. An experience, but actually not bad prices for what you get!

Once we were back from IKEA, Thom and I said goodbye to Mum and Dad and prepared for our first night in our new flat. Of course, Thom had to put at least one bit of the flat pack furniture together before the evening was out. He just about managed it before we decided to head to bed.
