New Vineyard

Over the last few months there has been some land-clearing on part of Meadowbank Station adjacent to the Taylor River tracks. Scrappy pines trees and scrub has been cleared, some timber retrieved, and the remainder bulldozed into heaps and allowed to dry. The heaps were burnt off, large stones removed and the land cultivated. In the last week or so the land was marked out into future rows and an irrigation system installed. In today’s image the black tubing of the ends of the system can be seen protruding from the ground. There are some small heaps of cleared and dried scrub in the distance and behind them again is established vineyard. The mountains forming the backdrop are the Richmond Range.
The land owner tells me that approximately two hectares of land will be planted in Sauvignon Blanc grapes. This planting will take place in the next few days. I will photograph this new area as it becomes established over time.
