Rusty Gate Latch

One of the lanes we walk along has a barrier across where the bridleway stops and becomes a footpath - there is a narrow pass around path to allow access for walkers.

The lane is only really used for farm traffic - so when the farmers need access the barrier is opened.

The opening end of the barrier has this amazing contraption to secure it - not quite sure how it works - but I suspect it may be fairly simple.

It is well rusted up - with some great colours. The sun popped out briefly whilst I was there today, giving it a nice glow.
