Another great day here in Orkney with the sun shining and flat calm waters. I presume we will pay for this weather over the winter but it is certainly glorious just now.

The setting sun reflects on the waters and the whalebone looks out over the Broch of Birsay and the flat Atlantic Ocean.

The puffins are all away now but shortly after I took this photo a pod of sperm whales past this point, had some fun around the broch and then moved off into the Rousay channel.

As is usual though, lucky me left the Broch of Birsay five minutes before the whales arrived! I feel like a Jonah1
