The Orange Blind

Cadell's painting in the Scottish Colourists Room at Kelvingrove is well known as the image used on Glasgow Museum and Art Gallery posters. Cadell came back from the Great War to set up a studio in his home in the Edinburgh New Town. His friend Miss Dawn Wauchop sits ready to have tea and she pats the seat beside her in invitation to the viewer. His paintings at this time reflect the Art Deco period with bright, large flat areas of colour.
