Eye of Horse, Blood of Dragon and Giant's Stair

An early morning start and a visit to White Horse Hill, Uffington to try out the new binoculars. The weather wasn't terribly clear but we spent nearly two hours enjoying the scenery and trying to fathom out where our village was.

I thought that I'd use the ancient sites seen from the top of the hill as today's blip.
The ice-cut mounds are known as the Giant's Stair and are just below the 374 feet white horse, cut into the hill side. All I could photograph was the horse's 'eye and ear' as the only place you can really see the horse is from the air. There are many theories as to why it was made and who by. We shall probably never know. Some people believe that it was originally a dragon.
The flat topped hill is Dragon Hill. It is reputed that St. George slew the dragon here. Nothing has ever grown on the spot where the blood of the dragon spilt. I waited for people to climb to the top, so that the scale can be seen.
