Edstone Aqueduct

Yes I know I blipped a canal picture a couple of days ago but we were on a different part of the tow-path today.

Near the village of Bearley is the Edstone Aqueduct, the longest aqueduct in England, constructed during the period 1750 – 1799. The canal crosses both the main road to Birmingham and the railway. We were in the area so decided to take Dylan for a walk along the tow-path including the aqueduct. The path is actually below the waterline of the canal, so when boats pass their bows are at eye level.

In other news: regarding yesterday’s bird picture, I have it on good authority, thank you geordiepam, that it is a baby owl.
