Welcome Home

Out for a meal with friends again tonight. This was on the hall carpet to welcome us home. It froze as soon as the light went on.

I think it is a male giant house spider. I used to know it as Tegenaria gigantea but I believe that name has now been superceded and it should now be called Eratigena atrica (also formerly known as Tegenaria atrica).

Only problem is that with it being so close to the hall carpet, it is virtually impossible to throw the background out of focus.
