This summer she went swimming

Another cold and dull day, more redolent of winter than summer. I was wishing I'd worn my thermal vest and long johns. She had cycled down to the beach and was prancing about in her swimsuit in the freezing sea.

When she surfaced, I asked her if she was quite mad. (I may have put it more diplomatically than that). She said she swam outdoors every day, all year round, in rivers, lakes and the sea, and her body was used to the cold. But I could see that she was fibbing, because she was covered in goose bumps.
