Blackberries...

...it's definitely autumn!
Abandoned the bike ride in favour of a local walk - Roy had to go in to Wakefield to alter an appointment, so we only had the afternoon available and it was still pretty windy.
Anyway, we enjoyed a shortish but very varied walk, starting via Quaker Bottom, the old Quaker settlement which still has an active Meeting House and a very egalitarian cemetery - all the gravestones are exactly the same... We passed sheep gathered waiting for the tups and cows with the bull in the field, so someone is thinking ahead to spring already! There was also a field of wheat whispering in the wind and a lovely Retriever puppy called Millie, who insisted on following us instead of her owner! To complete the rural interlude we had to pause in the farm lane as the cows went past for milking - and then an ice cream from Arthur's for me and a scone for Roy for afternoon tea.
