What a special day!

* Leevi had a trap shooting competition in Salo today and he came home with a silver medal!

* Venetian Festival has been celebrated in Finland today. It's a quite new tradition here in inland and it includes fireworks and some special program around the city. We went to see the fireworks of Särkänniemi amusement park.

* Nicknamed "The Wolf Pack", the Finland basketball national team is appearing at the FIBA World Cup for the first time in its country's history. Finland had gained a wild card entry to the tournament and started off with the toughest match imaginable, so it was hardly a surprise when they lost by 114 points to 55.It was quite historical match - the previous official match between Finland and USA was in 1964).

The Finnish supporters were the one bright spot during the defeat, with some 8,000 fans. The wolf pack was losing by 50 points and the fans were still standing up and supporting their team. One of the USA's player, Klay Thompson, said in the interview after the match "I gotta give a shout-out to Finnish fans. I haven't played in front of a crowd like that. That was impressive."
