(Breaching) humpback whales

Today was awesome!

Whales are such great beautiful creatures!

We went on a whale watching cruise in the area of Hervey Bay and we had a very good day. It started a bit calm with two whales who we could see from a distance. They weren't very eager to approach our boat. A bit later we saw a couple of more but again they weren't very eager to come close.

A short while later one young whale kept swimming around our boat for quite some time. He was still a teenager so relatively small (but still huge!). He kept swimming under and around the boat occasionaly going above the water. As it is a humpback whale part of him is white which gives quite a nice glow under the water. It kind of looks like light blue, really beautiful.

Then at some point we noticed some breaching whales a little bit in the distance so the captain knew what to do. Get there as fast as we can! So that's what we did. It appeared there was not only one whale breaching but multiple of them! There were three relatively close to each other (and our boat) and a couple of more in a bit of the distance.

It was really great to see them breaching for such a long time. They started to flip their vins to each other as well to communicate. Really nice to see them play!

The best moment was without a doubt the following. At one point one whale breaches and as he is almost in the water the other two whales breach at the exact same time. Wow! This was really an incredible sight!!
