VLF

At night from the hotel we could see these large masts lit up with aircraft warning light so we decided on the way back from Keswick to take a trip round the coast to see what they were.

Anthorn Radio Station, as it turns out, is a massive array of aerials and cables which make up a VLF (Very Low Frequency) transmitter. Its primary function is to transmit orders to naval submarines.
