Good Night Mallorca

I went into Palma to capture some night shots. The cathedral looks spectacular caught in the spotlights but I chose this image which is of the palace adjacent to the catherdral.

Mrs CBL and I have enjoyed the most wonderful holiday. It was one we had booked to take in June but couldn't due to Mrs CBL's broken ankle. The heat ensured that we slowed down and relaxed probably more than we would do usually. The hotel pools were a delight to plooter about in and chill (as in cool!).

The hotel staff were most helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. The diet has already started! We'll be back!!

The Almudaina Palace
Originally built as an Arab fortress, the palace became the official Majorcan residence of the Spanish Royal Family at the beginning of the 14th Century through King Jaume II. Although the royal court already had its official residence at Perpignan, Jaime II wanted to restore the citadel for his summer palace. (Smart Move!!)

Standing opposite the Cathedral and overlooking the harbour, it is an imposing sight. Surrounded by a fabulous green space in the form of the S'Hort des Rei you can walk along shady paths or sit a while and listen to the gushing fountains.
