Soddin' DIY

This blip was taken in haste, anger, frustration and down right annoyance. Hence it is not my best work.

While taking out the base of the shower tonight (see yesterday) went through a cable. Who in gods name puts a cable 2ft in from a wall up behind the area a bath should be. Well the electrician we had to call out had no idea either. The word 'cowboy' was used several times. It's exactly the same type of person who fixes a shower unit to the wall using sealant, grout, cement and I am pretty sure some kind of solidified animal bits by the the smell and then tiles over the lot.

We have an old fuse box (not a consumer unit) and even after repairing the severed cable it still kept blowing (sparks and everything). So now we have to have an engineer come out tomorrow and try and solve the problem. Only the lights gone, everything else is fine, heating, everything in the kitchen and the sockets are OK.

Upshot is we have had to put the plumber off putting the bath in till it is sorted. Phoned him up and he was fantastic. Just said to keep him informed and he could probably pull a late night and get it sorted for us. That's if the electrician can sort out the entire house in reasonable time tomorrow.

The picture is Vic reading through the wonderful extra cover policy we (she) took out by candlelight while waiting for the electrician. 99p a month for electricity failure and we have only had it 3 months. It covers us for up to £2000 worth of work so could end up in our favour.

I know it probably won't but after tonight exploits I need to find something positive.
