Birds in My Garden

Some of the birds I saw in my garden this morning. At top are three house sparrows, and below are a chaffinch, flanked by two waxeyes. Note how tall the waxeye is when he wants to see the level of the honey water without getting too close. Best viewed large

More birds have claimed territory in my garden. The list now-

Native
bellbird (These two are solitary males that don’t call every day.
fantail (They may go away in search of a mate.
grey warbler
waxeye

Introduced
song thrush
blackbird (2 pairs)
house sparrows (a host)
chaffinch (2 pairs)
greenfinch
yellowhammer
dunnock
starlings
magpies

There are plenty of birds nearby- masked lapwings (spur winged plover), skylark, southern blackbacked gulls, white-faced herons, paradise shelducks, harrier hawk, swallows, pigeons etc.
