Woodland Walk

Mrs CBL and I enjoyed a woodland walk at Haddo House and Gardens, Nation Trust Property. We walked briskly on the first circuit and less so on the second. As we are both on a diet after the excesses of our recent holiday there was a shared scone enjoyed along with our coffees!

There was so much to see on the walk and the autumn tints were just beginning to come through on the trees. The Fly Agaric stood out with its striking red cap and white spots which make this species the classic 'toadstool' of children's storybooks.

The cap is domed signifying that this is a newly developed specimen, when the cap flattens out into a saucer like shape it is in the later stage of its development.

Tempting though it looks the Fly Agaric is extremely toxic and can cause severe symptoms if eaten.
