The Mack Rises

I was at Glasgow School of Art today to have a look at the 2014 Graduate Show before it opens on Saturday.
I'm writing about this post-grad degree show in Saturday's Herald.
As you can see in this picture the scaffolding is going up around the Mack building following the fire which ripped through its famous interior in May.
The building could be out of commission for three years, which means at least one generation of students won't know what it's like to inhabit its much loved spaces.
With this in mind, the art school has been in the news today.
A couple of events have been organised to discuss its future. One in Venice and one at the Mackintosh Church in Glasgow.
More here.
The other story is about the school of fine art decanting to the Tontine East Building in the Trongate, Glasgow.
The undergraduate Painting and Printmaking department, M.Litt in Fine Art Practice (Drawing and Painting), M.Litt Curatorial Practice (Contemporary Art), and MRes Creative Practices have all been displaced by the fire at the Mack.
It's a bit if an art hub down there so a good move.
