New Year, New Life

Regular of the month?

I was at this pub (in Farringdon Street) last night for the London Historians monthly social and again tonight to meet up with friends from the 'Guess where London?' photo group. We used to run this on Flickr but since the Great Flickr Disaster last year several of us have left and others seem to be gradually losing interest. Some of us migrated to Ipernity and started an alternative group but we've never really got that off the ground. But a few of us are still in touch in various ways and usually manage to meet when one of the former group members is over on her annual visit to London from Massachusetts - which was the case today.
In a couple of weeks time I'm going to be there again for a Footprints of London guides social so I'm certainly seeing a lot of it.

It's quite an amazing pub. It looks very small from outside and the downstairs bar is not very large but there's a huge outdoor terrace area at the back and two floors of function rooms upstairs. The first floor, where we were last night, has a bar and an outdoor terrace then on the second floor is the 'lounge' where we were this evening - very cosy with leather sofas to lounge on and ideal for a small group. You have to go downstairs to get drinks though.
Best of all, the function rooms are free to book although they ask for a refundable deposit if they don't know you. So highly recommended if you're looking for a place to meet up around the City. (And no, I don't get a commission!)
