Mask II

Not surprisingly, we were unsuccessful at our first auction attempt - went for a fair bit more than we were prepared to pay. We'd figured that'd probably be the case though, so not too disappointing. More looking to do now though...

Lunch with the troops, and then J and I went to the Ron Mueck exhibition at the NGV. Brilliant, if slightly creepy. Such life-like sculptures, including one of a 5-metre long neonate complete with umbilical cord and another of his smaller than life-size dead father. Unusually for this gallery, photos were allowed, and there were plenty of people with cameras out. Tough choice between a piece titled Drift, which is of a middle-aged man in sunglasses and board short on a lilo that is hung against a green wall, arms out crucifixion-style, and this one. Reportedly, this one is modelled on Mueck himself.

Overcast and intermittently raining today, so I figure it's completely ok to have a lazy afternoon watching videos. J appears to be getting bored and is attempting to play and sing some Gipsy Kings on the guitar. Better go...
