The Albannach

It's our last full day staying at The Albannach, the five room hotel at Lochinver with a Michelin starred restaurant .

The rooms are beautiful and the food sensational . Last night 's menu started with langoustine and duck canapés and fresh local oysters, all served in the lounge.

On moving to the restaurant I had a small bowl of mussels before proceeding to the official starter which was Hake and Samphire . There followed a very delicate Jerusalem artichoke tart , before the main course of roast wild roe deer with a beautiful port sauce and various deliciously cooked vegetables . Before dessert , we had two cheeses with an oatcake and then a magnificent wild berry soufflé with bitter chocolate ice cream . Coffee in the lounge was accompanied by assorted petit fours .

My diet is not going well .
