Cotton Easter?

I suppose you could pronounce cotoneaster as Cotton Easter, but I'm not sure you should. This is rather an autumnal blip but I wanted to get these lovely cotoneaster berries before the birds did!
It was so good in the garden today. The temperature was just right and there was no wind. The birds have recovered from their summer quiet period and were singing well. We have plenty of wood pigeons round about and their gentle cooing is the sound of home. My paternal grandmother, who came from a thickly wooded area in the high Chiltern Hills, told me as a child that the wood pigeons were saying "My toe bleeds, Betty". Does anyone else believe this, or do your wood pigeons say something else? Maybe it is just a Chilterns saying.
