Hull Freedom Festival

The Freedom Festival which lasts for three day encompasses all types of cultural and artistic expression. This year the festival is dedicated to Nelson Mandela and the highlights include a light show re-enacting The Long Walk to Freedom, and a carnival type procession as a tribute to A World of Colour, Mandela's vision of a multi-coloured society.

Such a variety of acts to choose, I settled on a dance display entitled 'Supermarket trolleys' (yes, really!). Found the location, the trolleys were in situ but unfortunately the rain was so heavy that the ballet could not be performed.

Despite the dreadful weather there was plenty of entertainment, I chose this lady drummer for my blip because her group just looked so happy and had such fantastic rhythm that all the spectators started to dance in the middle of the afternoon in the rain on the Princes Quay!

No wonder Hull was awarded city of culture 2017!
