When in Rome... (3)

... eat outside!

After a hearty breakfast, we walked across the city to the Vatican. We began our day there by looking around the Piazza di San Pietro, where preparations were being made for the Papal Audience which takes place on Wednesdays when the Pope is in residence. Next, we climbed the dome and admired the fantastic views over Rome as well as the outside of the Basilica. Then we went inside St Peter's Basilica, which until recently was the largest church in the world. Finally, we spent the rest of the day visiting the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. It's hard to find the words to describe the Vatican buildings adequately ... I can't even come close.

We finished our day at the Serafini Alla Pace in the Via di Tor Millina, where I had tomato and mozzarella ravioli, followed by almond ice cream cake. And wine.
