The second half of life..

By twigs

Splish splash.....

Today was mostly an idly domestic day - getting little jobs and tasks done that aften go under the radar because they're never big enough to work their way up the priority list.

I did manage a walk along the beach however and spent some very relaxing time watching a number of people doing their own thing to relax in the beautiful summer weather (which managed to emerge later this morning after a very rainy/windy start to the day.)

There was the dreadlocked dad who enjoyed some light surfing in a little sea kayak whilst his gorgeous bubble-haired boy enjoyed just splashing around in the waves with his flippers and snorkel (don't worry - he was old enough to look after himself!). Then there were the 3 teenage girls enjoying some surf time with an inflatable killer whale. And the elderly couple who enjoyed their sedate stroll along the beach in the shallows of the incoming tide.....

....and my favourite - a young family who were simply loving good ol' fashioned sand, sea, paddling, laughing, splashing fun together! (And again - don't worry - dad was just an arm's length away from her as she explored the warm, shallow water)

Went to the 'Opera In The Park' in Tahunanui in the evening and enjoyed a glorious 3 hours of entertainment by local New Zealand artists......including a wonderful firework display at the end choreographed in time to the orchestra playing Ravel's Bolero. And the bonus was that it was all free entry!!!

A good day.
